First Baptist of Norco

First Baptist Church of Norco began in 1955, and after almost ceasing to exist, the church had a new start in 2004 with the call of Pastor Jeff Mooney as interim pastor. In August of 2005, the church called Pastor Jeff to be the senior pastor. Before God called Pastor Jeff and his family to California, he served as the Associate Pastor and the Minister of Music at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Shepherdsville, Kentucky for the 7 years. First Baptist Church of Norco is a very intentional community. Through expositional preaching and teaching, they seek to create an ethos that lends itself to a tangible corporate testimony of the gospel.  The church also has a very aggressive missional mindset. They are involved with local evangelism in Norco, Corona, and Riverside.  For 3 years running, roughly 40% of their membership has gone overseas for short term mission trips.  Their target areas where they have developed long term relationships are India, the Philippines, and Thailand.  The church also has a priceless relationship with CBU’s stellar ISP program, and Pastor Jeff urges every pastor who shepherds CBU students to investigate the possibilities of a similar relationship.  Along with the ISP program, First Baptist Church of Norco also works with groups like IJM and Voice of the Martyrs.  The latter group helps to pursue and aid the persecuted and impoverished church around the world.  The former group works to bring justice into a broader social arena. First Baptist Church of Norco is currently in the season to raise money for their overseas ventures, which is always an exciting time for them. You can pray that First Baptist Church of Norco would be convinced of the gospel, the transforming power of God’s redemption of sinners in Christ.  Pray that they would not be satisfied with any substitute gospel that is unable to produce transformation of faith, affections, and life.  Also pray that they would love, speak, and celebrate the magnificence of the gospel of Jesus Christ in seeing sinners redeemed from lives of sin to lives centered on loving God with all their being and those around them as they love themselves.
